Create Canonical Reference Report For Entire Site?

Hello. Is it possible to get A1 Sitemapper to generate a full report for an entire website that lists the page URL and the canonical reference URL for each page? Other than looking at each page separately?

I would like to be able to find errors quickly and also to figure out which pages I have forgotten to add the canonical reference to.

Hi,

Reporting functions beyond CSV/export are planned for A1 Sitemap Generator, A1 Website Analyzer and A1 Keyword Research.

How exactly they will be split out I am not sure of yet. I will try prioritize this as it could be a useful feature for many people doing websites and SEO. Feel free to keep reminding me once in a while

Even in A1 Website Analyzer the "Website Analysis" does not show all the data I have for each URL (it shows a lot though!)
I could possibly make a reporting module that would allow even more data to be selected/shown in reports (I guess I would have about uptill 40 columns of data, some with subdata such as e.g. "linked by")

... Alternatively, I could perhaps "expand" the treeview to show all such sorts of data built into itself with advanced filtering options... Food for thought

I downloaded the trial version of website analyzer. If you made site map generator similar to this it would work. In website analyzer you can specify what data you want presented - then expand the tree nodes - then print the report.

Do you know of an alternative way to get a canonical reference report? I have hundreds of pages and don't want to do this by hand if I don't have to.

I guess you are referring to a competing tool because A1 Website Analyzer does not currently show canonical data in it's "tree" view!
It only shows that information when you have selected the URL and then looks at its "page data"

A1 Website Analyzer 2.1.2 has 19 data columns in its "tree" view in the "Analyze website" tab... But yes, adding more data columns making it easy to view substructures directly in the "tree" as well (e.g. linked-by could be shown in it's own sublist inside the view) is something I will look into.

I am unsure if it will be too cluttered, but otherwise I can at least add it in a reporting tool!

No - not a competing tool. I had downloaded website analyzer hoping it had canonical reference - but as you know - it doesn't. I'm just saying if both programs had a similar layout it could work.

As of yet - I haven't found any tools that will give me a complete report of canonical ref's. They work great - but they have to be EXACT in order to work properly - otherwise they cause havoc with poor Google.

Just to clarify, both tools support canonical references.
They just don't list them in any report / overview!

However, Since A1SG will default to give URLs that have canonical reference
(to a different URL than itself) a special response code... Corresponds to "rcRedirectCanonical: Redirect: Canonical"
You can see how to configure canonical support here.

But there's no easy way to see all the URLs that are "goal" / "target" of a canonical references
(Except browsing through URL by URL in website analysis. If using default settings, all that "redirect" in one way or the other to the selected URL will appear in redirected by tab. When A1SG/A1WA calculates importance/priority of URLs, 301, canonical, meta refresh all pass on link juice.)


Anyways, I acknowledge that more data should/could be shown, and beyond that, true reporting modules should be added soon. (Will be useful under all circumstances!) I will try get those things done as "next feature" addition after link extraction in Flash files get implemented.
